چکیده

The CYP2A6 gene, which codes the enzyme, has known to have ahigh polymorphism. This polymorphism could decrease, increase, or eliminate enzyme activity. CYP2A6*4 , an inactive allele, decreased One of enzyme-specific substrates is nicotine. allele decrease nicotine metabolism that causes high levels in blood. In addition, it caused increasing Low-Density Lipoprotein Cholesterol (LDL-C) by expanding lipolysis process. purpose this research was evaluate effect gene on LDL-C levels. Respondents study were 31 male Javanese smokers. analytic observational with a cross-sectional design. Polymerase chain reaction (PCR) methods use identification gene. shows high-frequency alleles among subject detected, frequency 93.55%. Furthermore, did not impact levels, Odd Ratio value 1.636 (P-Value = 0.737). conclusion, does significantly affect Indonesian

International clinical practice guidelines on dyslipidemia emphasize the importance of matching the use and intensity of statin therapy with the absolute risk of atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease (CVD). Indeed, independent of the baseline level of dyslipidemia, patients who have entered the intervention arms of randomized clinical trials of statin therapy with similar absolute risks of CVD...

Clinical significance of high-density lipoprotein cholesterol in patients with low low-density lipoprotein cholesterol.

OBJECTIVES We sought to evaluate the significance of high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C) in the context of low low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C). BACKGROUND Earlier studies support an inverse correlation between circulating HDL-C and coronary risk in patients with normal or elevated LDL-C. METHODS This study involved 4,188 patients attending the Palo Alto Veterans Adminis...

A hepatic lipase (LIPC) allele associated with high plasma concentrations of high density lipoprotein cholesterol.

Genetic factors strongly influence interindividual variation in plasma high density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C) levels, but the specific genetic polymorphisms that confer heritable variation in HDL-C levels have not been identified. In this study we examined the relationship between polymorphism in LIPC, the gene encoding hepatic lipase, and plasma HDL-C concentrations using a sequential ap...

Discordance of low-density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol with alternative LDL-related measures and future coronary events.

BACKGROUND Low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) is the traditional measure of risk attributable to LDL. Non-high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (NHDL-C), apolipoprotein B (apoB), and LDL particle number (LDL-P) are alternative measures of LDL-related risk. However, the clinical utility of these measures may only become apparent among individuals for whom levels are inconsistent (discord...

High -density lipoprotein cholesterol as a predictor for diabetes mellitus

Background: Diabetes is a prevalent chronic disease around the world. To evaluate risk of diabetes comprehensively, we developed a score model for the risk prediction with HDL-C as a protective factor. Methods: We extracted physical examination data of 2728 individuals. The data contain 18 demographic and clinical variables. To identify the statistical significant feature variables, the backwa...
